Proudly empowering and employing people with disabilities.

Our Culture

JCDC Woodworks is unique in every sense of the word. The services and programs provided by Jackson County Developmental Center (JCDC) are supported by various social enterprises operated for the purpose of employing individuals with disabilities in an inclusive environment. We help individuals in our community find a purpose through the creation of gorgeous live edge furniture.

Our furniture is made in Ravenswood, which is located in Jackson County, West Virginia. At JCDC Woodworks, we recognize the beauty and value of traditional woodworking. For that reason, we create Appalachian-inspired, functional pieces of art. No two pieces are alike and due to the nature of live edge furniture, no piece can be duplicated. Minimal artificial materials are used in the crafting process in order to preserve the durability and enhance the longevity of the handcrafted piece.

JCDC is a not-for-profit organization that began in October 1978, when a small group of interested citizens recognized the need to address the vocational challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in Jackson County, West Virginia. JCDC began operations on a two-day-per-week basis for six individuals in donated space at a local church. Later, JCDC moved into rented space in downtown Ravenswood and in 1982, JCDC was granted accreditation by the WV Division of Rehabilitation Services. Accreditation permitted JCDC to offer vocational services.

When you buy live edge furnishings from us, you play a key role in helping ensure the continued success of the programs and services provided by JCDC.
